Navillus is a small kennel, though I hesitate to call it such, based in Rowley Regis, West Midlands, since 1998. My affix is my surname spelt backwards for those of you who'd like to know, and whilst it wasn't my first choice it was certainly my best choice!
Navillus is a relatively new affix, however, I have had Beardies since the early 1980's. My first Beardie, Cassie, (Cassandra Lady of Claremont), introduced me to showing ... although to call her a show dog was a slight over-statement of the case! It didn't matter though, we had a lot of fun and met a lot of nice people, some of whom we still know today.
Cassie was joined a couple of years later by my second Beardie, Percy, (Saltando Sir Perceval), and Shelley, a Black and Tan GSD. I thought showing Cassie was difficult enough, but showing a GSD was something else ... it didn't last long!!!
When my marriage broke up in 1985, Cassie stayed with my ex until I found somewhere to live, and Percy went back to his breeders and was subsequently sent to France. Shelley went to live with my mother and father, and I had a dog drought for the next 18 months. Cassie eventually came back to live with me, and kept me sane until I returned to Birmingham in 1992 when, sadly, she had to be rehomed. Cassie lived to the ripe old age of 17 in her new home in Yorkshire, where her daily and most favourite chore was taking her new family's children to school in the village, and bringing them home again at school's end. I went to fetch her when I found a place to live back in the Midlands, but she was so happy with her new family, and they with her, that I couldn't do it, and she stayed there and lived happily ever after.
Currently in residence at Navillus I have Rio (Medmderry Carousel for Navillus), and two of Rio's daughters Astra, (Navillus Spirit Guide), 8 years, and Devon, (Navillus Shooting Star JW), 4 years; and three of Astra's daughters, Ellis, (Navillus Moonlight Shadow), 2 years, Gertie (Navillus Rainbow Chaser) and Grizzle (Navillus Rainbow Maker), currently 11.1/2 weeks of age at 28 July 2009.
